Notes: {e} and {o} are opened [ɛ] and [ɔ] according to Donohue’s description. There are three
tones: high, low and fall in Donohue’s terminology and logat tarik (or logat tinggi) ‘pulled tone’
(or high tone), logat tengah ‘middle tone’ or ‘average tone’, and logat tekan ‘pressed/stressed
tone’ in Indonesian terminology, respectively (Donohue 2004: 54). The system of Skou tones is
described in detail in Donohue 2003. These tone varieties are marked here as high, middle and
low respectively. All vowels can be nasalized.
