Dieri
Dieri a.k.a. Diyari is an extinct language recently spoken in the north-east part of South Australia. According to Austin (1978), 25 speakers. Dieri
traditional territory was situated between Mount Freeling in the south and Pirigundi Lake in the north and between Lake Hope in the east and
Kittakittaooloo lake in the west. There are five local groups of the Dieri people: Paritltya, Ŋaḍiŋani, Panyul
a, Kunari, Maal
a. However, there is no
reliable evidence for dialect diversity between them. The list below is based on the field material collected from Kunari Dieri by Peter K. Austin in 1975-
1977.
